One of the biggest complaints with EOS has been that it’s very difficult to register an account name. As a result, for the past couple of weeks I’ve been hard at work on an app to help simplify this process. Keep reading to learn how you can register your own account in under a minute.

Step 1

Head on over to https://namevault.co, once there you’ll see a simple search bar that you can type into and a fun little button that says Random Name.

Step 2

Type 12 random characters into the search box. Or if you’re feeling intrigued hit the Random Name button to generate a custom EOS account name.

Warning: The “Random Name” feature is addictive.

Step 3

Tap the green “Buy” button. A modal will launch asking for the public key you would like to link the account to. You can copy and paste your own key here, or click the “need one” button to generate a random one. If you want, you can also add a separate active public key (this step is recommended but optional).

Make sure your private key is saved before continuing.

Feeling confused? This article explains the differences between “active” and “owner” public keys: https://developers.eos.io/eosio-nodeos/docs/accounts-and-permissions#section-authorities-and-permissions

Add your public key to account.

Step 4

Finally, hit “Proceed to Coinbase”. You’ll be able to pay for your new account name with a number of different cryptocurrencies. Once your payment is confirmed your account name will be registered on the EOS network.

Buy your EOS account with Coinbase.

Step 5

That’s all: No accounts to create, no plugins to install. Just a simple & clean app to register your EOS accounts. Enjoy your new name!
