Blogging For Dummies — How To Start A Blog Even If You’re A Dummy
This post is called blogging for dummies for a reason. It’s not because you’re a dummy. It’s because even dummies can start a blog and earn passive income if they know what to do!
If you’ve ever thought about starting a blog, now is a great time to take action and just do it.
Blogging has opened so many doors for me not only in earning money but also learning new skills that have helped me land jobs, find freelance work, and meet a whole new community of people I would never have met if I didn’t have a blog.
A little background about me: It was nearly one year ago that I started this blog that you’re reading. It began after my wife and I paid off $50,000 of student loan debt in just 11 months by living in a camper.
We learned a lot through that process and wanted to share what we learned. So we started a blog!
It’s been a wildly fun ride!
Our blog has also allowed me (Zack) to launch a successful marketing side hustle to earn extra money on the side and has even landed me a new full-time gig at a technology company. Whoa!
I’m not saying this to brag.
What I’m saying is this: blogging is a wonderful way to build something yourself. It’s low cost. It’s fairly easy. And I have a guide to show you how to get started today if you’re ready?
Blogging For Dummies 101
You may think you have to learn a lot of complex coding and website skills to start and run a website yourself. However…
What if I told you that starting a blog is WAY easier and it looks more like this? Would you be more inclined to start?
While this takes time to earn passive income, blogging is great because you can create systems that make you money while you sleep.
Making money while you sleep is how rich people get richer. Systems are the true key to wealth.
The world is caught in trading time for money.
Don’t do that. Try to refocus on trading value for money instead.
Learning how to start a blog can help you do that.
I know bloggers that make anywhere from $1K a month to $100k a month.
No, that’s not a typo. Many of these people are my friends as we are in the same niche.
I still remember the first $120 check I got in the mail from my passive blog income.
I was like, “Oh wow! I made money and don’t even know how or where it happened!”
From now on I call this “sleepy” money because I make it while I sleep.
As time goes on, tracking where and how you make money on your blog becomes easier.
But, getting your first check from passive income kicks ass, even if you don’t know how you made it :)

How To Get Paid Blogging
Option 1: Find Affiliate Partnerships
What is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other peoples or company’s products.
If you find a product you that aligns with your business, brand, goals and promote it to others [your audience] you can earn a portion of the profit for each sale that you make.
Option 2: Display Advertising
Display ads are a great way for other brands or businesses to get exposure on your blog and you can sell the space.
Display ads may be good for other small businesses or companies that want to have their product or service in front of the maximum eyes possible.
Ad cost is typically a recurring monthly fee that will vary depending on where the ads are placed on the site and how many visitors you get each month.
Option 3: Accept Partnerships
Sponsored content is also a great way for your brand or product to gain new attention. Sponsors typically pay between $250 — $1,000 per post, depending on the content and how old your blog is.
