Free-Range Eggs vs Caged Eggs !
What's the difference ?!
Eggs are a useful source of protein that can be enjoyed in many different ways; scrambled, poached and boiled are just some of the ways eggs can be prepared! Eggs are renowned for their low supermarket prices and convenience.
They come in various sizes, from small to extra large, and various shades of brown, white and, less commonly, blue. The colour of the shell comes down to the breed of the hen that laid it ! The difference in flavour is slight, if noticeable at all !
Why Free Range Trumps Caged !
Caged female chickens are grown in extremely cramped and dark conditions and are usually fed a processed diet full of hormones which has a huge effect on the nutritional value of the eggs they later produce ! Free Range chickens are allowed to roam freely and eat insects and plants and this allows for them to produce eggs that are highly nutritious due to their varied diet !
Be aware !
There are actually are great portion of egg farmers that have falsified the lax definitions of free range chicken and used this label, even though they only allow their Caged chickens out occasionally to concreted areas. You must be cautious and read labels fully so you don't fall for this trap!
