Starting JavaScript Bootcamp Next Monday (8-Week Program)

I’ve been working on WordPress the past three years, creating custom themes, editing HTML and CSS, but wanted to take it to the next level.

The course is held in downtown Detroit held by a company called Grand Circus. I primarily work on eCommerce websites and enjoy the niche I’m working in. My boss told me to go for it when I mentioned the bootcamp to further my development skills, so here I am.

My thinking is more “creative” than “logical” and I like to consider myself an above-average designer. During the course, some of the concepts I will learn include: HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, NPM, AJAX / json, and task runners (GruntJS, GulpJS). So I’m hoping when this bootcamp is over, I’ll be a more well-rounded package!

We were assigned 20–30 hours of pre-work learning the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AngularJS. Our final pre-work assignment is to create a virtual resume, which was a breeze.

I’m expecting to be banging my head on the wall 1000 times as hard throughout the next 8-weeks, but I’ll learn to enjoy that, too.
