When life happens

Recently I’ve been thinking about the struggles of balancing life. I get its so important to have balance in order to live a healthy life but why is it so difficult?

I believe the answer for me is that I’m not in sync with myself at all. I find it hard to make decisions, I am a people pleaser and more often do not take care of my needs. I am positive that I’m not the only one like this, but I am really starting to realise the importance of being in touch with yourself otherwise you will never know your worth and value.

I want to give an analogy of an Olympic athlete. The focus is to win the gold medal. In order for them to achieve it they must have balance in each area of their training from what they eat to when they sleep. If one of these categories is out of sync their performance will not be at its highest peak during the performance. Their balance revolves around their training for their goal. These are the key decisions athletes make for their life in order to attain their goal.

This can be directly applied to us. Our desire for balance means we must make such decisions, whether that be your job, hobbies or family. We need to physically take step back out of the current box and actually ask ourselves “how is my life” and you will see your life right in front of your eyes this is the moment where you define what it is you want. If you’re not happy with what you see, self evaluation is what takes place now.

This is about reclaiming the balance in your life. It will only happen once you take the time to assess the areas of your life – consider the things you’re passionate about and how much time you give to that in your schedule. If it’s zilch you’re being so unfair on yourself. I’m not saying leave your 9–5 job, that actually annoys me because it’s not always feasible to do that. But you have a lot of spare time to do things you’re genuinely passionate about. You’re not doing anyone but yourself a favour. There are so many unspoken parts of our life the areas that nurture our soul and make us who we are. I am really pushing my self and whoever reads this to feed your soul, and I hope with this the balance we seek does happen but without caring and nurturing your self it will not.
