The communication arts department at LAU owns a rough amount of 20 cameras for more than 200 students who use the equipment on a daily or weekly basis.

The department permits students to use the cameras for a limited period and must be given back when possible.

Many students feel entitled to over use the equipment past due leaving other students frustrated with less time to do their own projects.

Samer, a staff member in the department explains that a lot of times equipment is returned with missing pieces or retained for longer usage or do not return anything out of laziness.

Staff must make sure everyone is satisfied with the equipment especially during midterms and finals.

When equipment is returned damaged, students may avoid responsibility. In this case, the department does not sign the student’s receipt, refer the student to the studio supervisor, and puts a hold on the student’s record until the situation is rectified.
