The Crooked Generations

Ever wondered that a lot of our problems were seeded by a specific generation that had the chance to build a better world for upcoming generations but they preferred “control” and “ego”.
But first, Let’s talk about the baby boomers. They had long realized that wars and divide leads to nothing but regret. So they took command to nurture the upcoming generations in a way that they had equal opportunity. That is the reason that a lot of “Generation X” people had the opportunity to make the best of their lives.
Basic education till twelve standard was enough to get a handsome job. Skills like wood working, arts and crafts, electrical work were appreciated rather belittled. This led to the creation of some bigger problems. Gen X whatever they portray had the best of the times to thrive.
Let’s compare! In the year 1990, Population of Pakistan was 107.6 million which reached a staggering 227 million in 2020. Literacy rate in Pakistan in 1990 was 66.2%. Which in 2022 became 58%. A specific population has been deprived of any government jobs and it has been a chronic issue now but on the other hand private jobs are still there to be explored. But the criteria changed ever since. Young, educated and energetic people are forced into a void created by the system that they end up doing menial jobs, freelance work or often jobs that they did not want to do. While on the other hand Gen X created a monopoly and had an age advantage that they played around with for long.

But the main difference that has been observed between millennials and Generation X is that millennials were the generation that carried forward a change in norms, technology and culture because they were born in an era of transformation whereas Gen X were too rigid to accept the change and neither welcomed it.

All of the parents from this generation forced their children into the fields of education that had no future or were quite stressful. Career counseling or aptitude assessment was something of a myth for them.

Not only that they lacked to apprehend the importance of Arts, skills, sports and recreation. They managed to suppress all of them to create a competitive environment for their children. They lacked the empathy that their older generation had and they have been treating their children as if they were a trophy. A lot of children suffered in silence because their parents were too arrogant to listen to them. Instead they always had an instant “ready to make” story of conquering through difficulties to negate any thoughts of problems that their child might possess. This is a generation that defamed diversity and inclusion, surpassed all sorts of corruption records and has a toxic ideology.

Let’s explore family values and bonding. This generation is a flag bearer of hypocrisy and egoistic mindsets. We can vouch for at least one example around us where families haven’t connected for years because of the pressure from their parents and some personal issues from the past. On the contrary, this is the same generation that blames millennials that they are not very friendly, outgoing or sort of incoherent.

The toxic urge to control has been processed into the minds of a generation that is distorted and is trying to break through the cocoon of suffocation to become productive, progressive and contributing beings. A generation that is ready to sacrifice themselves for a better generation ahead not by fighting wars on borders but battlegrounds beneath them.
