In South Africa, third world (ish) we routinely pay more than $1000 for the latest iPhone. And that’s not total after interest, but rather upfront cash purchases.

So, in that sense at least, it’s already true.

Surely, first worlders will pay that for more phone and the “Pro” moniker to boot?
