Authors Battling Depression and Emerging Stronger: How to overcome it.
I have personally faced the challenges of living with depression over many years. This struggle was amplified by various difficult life experiences. Commencing my writing career at the age of 44 was met with skepticism by many. However, during one particularly dark period of depression, writing became a source of solace for me. Today, at the age of 45, I take pride in having published 18 books, some of which have even reached the coveted #1 spot on Amazon. My journey isn’t just about achieving bestsellers; it’s about overcoming personal hardships.
Society often conveys the message that individuals dealing with depression and anxiety should feel ashamed. Often, people suggest turning to prayer as a solution. While I don’t underestimate the power of prayer, it’s essential to understand that when someone is in the grip of depression, prayer might be the last thing on their mind. Most often, they simply wish for their pain to subside, even momentarily, to find some peace. In my case, depression has been a result of numerous challenges throughout my life. One of the most distressing incidents occurred when I was only 9 years old.
Unfortunately, it was not an isolated event, and it included an incident with a 16-year-old boy. The experience was so traumatic that I can only recall fragments of what transpired, with the rest buried deep in my memory.
