Dear Rebeca,
I’m honestly touched. Thank you for reaching out… Your words mean more than I can say. ❤
I’m sorry you’ve had similar experiences too. From what I have read of your work, you sound like an incredibly strong woman. Pieces like these are always difficult to write but to hear from someone like yourself, who understands on a personal level, makes spilling my guts entirely worthwhile!
I really appreciate your encouragement re: authenticity. I spent many years feeling unable to speak my truth, so I’m not willing to return to self-suppressing in order to please others now. It’s hard sometimes, but I can’t undo all my progress.
Like you say, there’s no way of knowing for sure if my family will ever come around, but it’s nice to think that might be a possibility one day.
Thank you for sharing your personal story about your brother. The things we do when we are kids… Chocolate is often a source of great trouble and temptation. ;)
I wish you strength in your journey with your own family and community. Your supportive comment really helped.
