Würzburg is also known for the city of 100 churches for the numerous church structures in the city, designed in different architecture such as Baroque, Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance, and Modern.

Let me tell you some cool historical stuff. Würzburg is located in the Franconia region of Northern Bavaria. Huhh… Well, I am sure you know this already as you read many articles which start with this sentence. Hahaha…

So here is some cool stuff.
The name Würzburg was first documented in the year 704. This document was issued by Duke Hetan II on the occasion of Thuringian goods to Saint Willibrord. This documentation is called “in Castello Virteburh”. The name “Virteburh” (pronounced: Wirteburch) is the oldest surviving name of Würzburg from the document. In the 8th century “t” was replaced with “z” and it became “Wirzburg”. And finally in the 11th Century “i” was replaced with “ü” and since then it is called “Würzburg”. Fascinating right? ;D
