POMODORO Technique
I was delaying one of my programming languages on an online course for quite a few weeks. The reason was that even if one passes the deadline to complete, still you can pursue that later on, and the other was boredom. So, I decided that I will take two lectures for about 30 minutes and then a 5-minute break that will probably be occupied by surfing the social media.
At first, after completing two lectures that combined to be 27 minutes, I spend double the time on my break time. It was going to be for about 5 minutes but unfortunately tended to be for an hour. I felt discouraged but to overcome the loss I planned to spend 1 hour this time on the lectures. But the victory was so huge that I wanted to reward myself with something bigger and ended with a 30-minute break (Sigh!).
Although I know the time I was spending to learn was somehow equal to the time for my relaxation, but something is better than nothing. At least I was not delaying the work anymore.
It was about yesterday that I got to Know that this technique is called POMODORO. Through this technique, one is able to manage time by breaking work into intervals. It is not only helpful for getting rid of procrastination but also to utilize time productively.
The good part was that the 30-minutes of work, I was completely focused because of the fact that later on, I am going to enjoy surfing the internet. In the future, I am going to make sure not to extend the break time, and to apply this technique more often.
By the way, Pomodoro is Italian for tomato.
