Energy drinks have become a popular beverage choice for people looking for a quick boost of energy. They are marketed and promoted to increase energy, enhance physical performance and strengthen mental alertness. Red Bull and Prime Energy Drink are two of the most recognized brands in the market, and both have gained popularity among consumers worldwide. On January 4th, 2022 Logan Paul and KSI announced that they had founded a new drink company called “Prime Hydration.” Since the announcement Prime Hydration has become the fastest growing drink company in the world and is not looking to be slowing down anytime soon. Another energy drink on the market is Red Bull, the number one leading energy drink in the world today, and is known for its iconic blue and silver can and its catchy slogan “Red Bull Gives You Wings” which is one of the most popular advertising slogans in the United States. Throughout the years Red Bull has expanded from an ordinary energy drink to sponsoring events, sports teams, and extreme sporting events such as skydiving. Red Bull is the number one energy drink, but with the fast pace Prime Energy Drink is growing, will it outpace Red Bull and how do the two compare?

Red Bull has been the dominant player in the energy drink market for several years, with a market share of around 43% in 2020. It has a strong global presence, with its products being sold in over 170 countries. Red Bull remains the top-selling energy drink globally, with sales of over 7.5 billion cans in 2020. Prime Energy Drink has a smaller sales volume, but it has been rapidly increasing and in 2020, it sold over 200 million cans. Both Red Bull and Prime Energy Drink have a strong social media presence, with millions of followers on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Red Bull is known for its creative and engaging social media campaigns, which often feature extreme sports and events. Prime Energy Drink, on the other hand, focuses on promoting its natural ingredients, zero sugar, low calories and refreshing flavors. It has also collaborated with social media influencers to reach a wider audience.

The chart above represents how often each of the two energy drinks were being searched for on Wikipedia. Because Prime Energy Drink is new and has only been on the market for a little over a year, there was no demand for information on the drink until 2022. Red Bull has had a consistent amount of people searching for information from 2006 to 2012 and then trends down once it was fairly recognizable in the market. When Prime was released in 2022, the demand for information on the newly released sports drink was high, with curiosity surrounding the drink that had people searching for information about the product. From the chart we can see that over 200 people instantly went to the website to find information on the product. If you search for “Red Bull” on google, the search engine creates a dashboard of information on the drink that is readily available the moment you search for it (bottom for reference).This could affect the chart statistics regarding the amount of people visiting the site since they are instead are just viewing the available information from the dashboard.

In conclusion, Red Bull remains the dominant player in the energy drink market, with a strong global presence and high sales volume. However, Prime Energy Drink has been steadily gaining popularity, with its natural ingredients, zero sugar, low calories and refreshing flavors. While Red Bull focuses on extreme sports and events in its marketing campaigns, Prime Energy Drink has collaborated with social media influencers to reach a wider audience. Time will tell in the next few years which of these two drinks will land the top spot, but ultimately, the popularity of these two energy drinks comes down to personal preference and what the consumer is looking for in an energy drink.
