Credibility of Sources
With the advancement of the internet, online sources are becoming the main way people are getting information. This is worrisome when you think about the fact that almost anybody can put something on the internet. After reading an article about using credible sources here are three things I learned.
The first thing is that the information you are using should have a works cited page. How are you supposed to know that the information is credible if you don’t know where it came from? It is important to know that the information used on the website you want to cite is accurate.
The second thing is that the reader should check for author bias. This is one of the first things that you should do when evaluating an article. Bias is not always a bad thing but you need to know if it is there so you can find the truth in the piece.
The final thing, though not a new concept, is to always check the date of the article. Even though this is not a new idea, the importance of it was reiterated. In order to have the most credible information you should find the most up to date websites you can.
