Who Said it… Jesus or Trump
I’ve heard some rather ridiculous, humorous, and downright crazy assertions that a certain Presidential candidate is “God’s choice”. That he’s a Christian because he defends unborn children, and says it like it is, etc…
So rather then a point for point data driven analysis, that often seem to fall on deaf ears, instead I offer you a game of choice.
Who said IT?!?
“If Hillary can’t satisfy America, what makes you think she can satisfy America?”
OR
“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”
“I mean part of the beauty of me is I’m rich, very rich.”
OR
“Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the kingdom of heaven.”
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, then it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”
“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose voters.”
OR
“All who take the sword, die by the sword.”
“Hide your cruelty for occasions when you really need it.”
OR
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
“I want a total and complete shutdown of Muslims coming into the United States”.
OR
“Love your Neighbor as yourself.”
This last little segment may be the most important part… Tell me if it sounds familiar (Hint, it’s not from a Presidential stump speech):
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:1–12… and oh wait, this one is Jesus.)
If you can’t identify who or where these are from… then maybe, just maybe, we should stop trying to argue that Donald Trump resembles anything like the way that Jesus taught us to live.
*The bottom quotes in the -OR- distinction were Jesus… in case you weren’t sure.
