The Value of Strong Women
Our world is getting approaching the brink of an apocalyptic shift in the treatment of women. Comparatively we have come so far, yet we we still have so far to go. Women are seizing more opportunities and crushing it more than ever in history, but even in the most advanced of countries are still subject to patronizing, ridicule, and blatant harassment. There are many areas to address, but to bring about the shift we need to topple societal expectations and obliterate misogyny, it’s the men like me that need to crawl out of our holes and help help put an end to the reign of insecurity and fear that is actively battling the rise of women.
To be clear, women don’t need saviors, they need us in their corner to patch them up and prepare them to continue the fight. I know many men that are attracted to strong women and involve them in their life, yet few I know are actively supporting them. They continue on in silence, providing a shoulder to cry on, but little else. They’ll listen, and talk, and put on a show of support, but they won’t actually provide value that will result in progress.
Even the strongest of women I know still suffer acts against them that they have just come to accept. They are strong women in a man’s world and believe they need to accept certain things as a fact of life, or they are simply too tired to fight it. It’s like they are fighting in the championship but know their opponent is too strong for them. They know how far they’ve come, they see the prize within their grasp, but part of them just want’s to survive to fight another day. This is where we step in to wipe off the blood and remind them that this is their time, there’s no walking away from this fight because they are a contender.
So why am I such an advocate for strong women? Because they are the ones that are going to change this world. Women are the ones that will end violence, eliminate hunger and poverty, and bring the world to a golden age it has never seen before. They will do this because to achieve what they have achieved took incredible and unforeseen strength, but somehow they never lost their empathy. They are able to take on the toughest battles without losing their humanity. They recognize there are better ways to do things and have the grit and determination to make it a reality.
The problem is that men see this as a threat instead of an opportunity. They fear becoming insignificant. Yet any man who surrounds himself with strong women will recognize the value they can bring together. There is no danger of men in general becoming obsolete, only the ones that refuse to evolve. We can learn from our women how to combine ambition with empathy, aggression with patience, and brute force with a subtle hand. Men still bring a lot to the table, but history has shown we make a shit storm of things if left to our own devices. The women we support will take that ambition and apply it in a more effective way. Not in pursuit of a legacy, but in pursuit of a better human race.
In my mind there is no stopping women from taking their seat at the table. They are too mentally and emotionally powerful to keep away from it. I just want to be in their inner circle when they do.
