Level 2: In Search Of A Project

After the #meetup_over_lime we were divided into groups to find local business or such, to find and help them by making apps.

And thus a group was made with 3 members, including

, and me. We started by forming a WhatsApp group and getting to know each other. We later had sessions where we made a list of people whom we’ll approach to propose our ideas to.

Firstly we approached Mr. Mubarak who is a professor in our college. We proposed to build an app which will help teachers to mark attendance, internal marks, remarks etc. After discussing with him , he asked us if we could build an app for entering internal marks directly into a software that was already installed in our college. But we had to let it slide because our senior had already made an app for that and also because such an app would require us direct access to the college’s data, we realized that this was something we could not help him with.

After our initial meeting, which was a failure, we reached out to Mr. Shabeer, who is the owner of Oxygen, a bookstore near our college. He was quite excited in hearing us out. We proposed to make a digital system where students can order the books online as it gets extremely crowded when students have to come in person to order the books. The present system is to write down the books that a student needs in a notebook. This gets extremely tedious especially during their peak (yep, the exam times, XD).

During our meetings with him,he shared several problems that he was facing and asked us what we could do for him. These are some of the problems he faced. There is no proper catalogue in Oxygen. So students are not aware of the new books that are available in the store. So he asked us to help him with an app that would solve these problems.

After the successful meet with Mr. Shabeer, we informed

about this. We received great support and we went forward with this project. We’ve started the work and we hope to complete the prototype within a week. Hoping that our work will please the first customer ( fingers crossed 😁).
