Clearly I could’ve worded this sentence better!

They’re 5 episodes in to the story and apart from Offred and Moira we’ve briefly heard the backstory of 2 handmaids. Who would you have preferred for them to sideline in order to explore this very complicated, minority issue? The drug addict prostitute? The lesbian?

If a handmaid was a trans man it would require major exposition as they would be forced to live as a woman and how would anyone tell.

I think its fairly obvious that you’re looking for a reason to complain if Ofglen or Ofglen 2 in the minute or two that they got to explain their background had said that they were trans you would be complaining that it was dealing with it flippantly.

You could at least wait until the 1st series is over to criticize because frankly it seems like an area they very well could cover eventually.

You criticize the writers for failing to define women (you don’t actually define it yourself either) but they actually stick very close to the definition of adult female which is defined as “ of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.”. Is that definition intersectional? No, but you certainly can’t claim that the writers aren’t sticking to the definition it may not be your definition but its the official one

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
