Responsibilities of a Safety Officer

The basic roles and responsibilities of a safety officer are:
Identifying potential hazards and assessing risk factors.
Developing and implementing safety procedures and control measures.
Monitoring compliance with safety standards and policies.
Reporting accidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions.
Taking immediate action to halt unsafe activities that pose an immediate threat to life and health.
Reporting unsafe activities to safety management for prompt disciplinary measures against violators.
Maintaining comprehensive site safety records and documentation.
Ensuring the implementation of a monthly color code system.
Conduct regular toolbox talk meetings on a daily or weekly basis.
Providing coverage for high-risk activities such as lifting operations, work at heights, welding, and heavy equipment operations.
