Infinite potential: You’ve got that something
How to become a master in anything?
“They did it because they didn’t know it was impossible.”
(Mark Twain)
When talking about human potential, one often concludes that sky is the limit.
Nonsense.
Rather, the space is the limit — and it is infinite. In practice, there are no limits. To repeat: Human potential is infinite — your potential has no limits.
Every one of us can do anything when the potential within us is focused correctly. Even Einstein said that he has no special talents, he just happens to be passionately curious. Passion — that is crucial for success. To have the willpower to practice day after day and improve.
In an interesting psychological research it was shown that anybody can succeed in any branch if he/she only practices enough. According to the research, one needs at least 10 000 hours of practice to become a world-class doer — that is, three hours every day for ten years.
As much as it sounds like a cliché, practice seems to make perfect. Sure, we all have our natural tendencies and strengths but, by practicing, we can become masters in anything. Human brain structure ensures that anyone, through practice can become new Steve Jobs or Lionel Messi.
When taking a look at any success, one cannot help but notice that behind the success there is not only an unbelievable amount of work but also an endless self-confidence. Only those become masters who stand up relentlessly after failure.
Most successful people have a hundred percent trust that practice makes perfect and they don’t let failure weaken that belief. Thomas Edison offers a perfect example: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
In another famous psychological research it was shown how preconceptions and beliefs affect success. The researchers told to some pre-school teachers that in their class there are some especially talented students whose skills are expected to improve faster. In reality, in the group claimed to be more talented, there were nerds as well as less bright students.
When learning results were later tested, it was found out that the students claimed to be talented had improved faster than the others. When the kids were believed to be especially talented, they became top students in their class, regardless of their starting level.
If you knew that you could do anything in your life, what kind of choices would you make? What is your passion? What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Is there something in which you’d like to succeed?
Whether it is making the world a better place, relationships, work project or learning a new skill, believe or not, you can do it. The key is passion, attitude and practice.
Nothing is impossible.
