You say you won’t live or die if the Sixers win a championship or not.

The focus on a “championship” seems to be misplaced. This is sports. This is entertainment.

If the league banned all players with brown eyes, and the sixers became the best team in the league somehow because they had a great blue eyed player, and there were no dunks and each team scored 50 pts a game, but the won the trophy entitled “NBA Champion”, would this make the city happy? Is this worth it? This seems to be the reasoning of sixers fans. (I understand this example is fanciful. However, it illustrates there are tradeoffs. It illustrates that “intentionally” tanking must be wrong at some point. Is 1 year of destroying basketball worth it?Is 5 years? Is 10? Is 20?)
