Branded Swag Goes #ECOFABULOUS

One of the questions I most often get asked by friends and clients is what imprint options have the tiniest overall ecological footprint, so I thought a quick best-of guide would be a good resource for companies that want to align their brand with thoughtful products.

Running Ecofabulous.com for over a decade, I get endless pitches from companies touting their incredible “eco-ness”. I’d like to set the record straight; combining organic cotton and recycled polyester not only isn’t the “most eco” fabric available… it is actually a monstrous hybrid (to quote my mentor William McDonough). By combing two fibers, neither can enter its intended waste stream. The poly can no longer be recycled and the cotton won’t biodegrade. The well-intended swag ends up in landfill.

Loomstate Organic Cotton Clothing

There are endless options for custom t-shirts and sweatshirts (arguably the most essential and oft-requested piece of corporate merch). Warning — upon closer inspection most of these don’t pass muster, featuring blends of synthetic and natural fibers that render the clothing impossible to recycle. Loomstate’s luxurious 100% organic cotton tees, tanks, and sweatshirts top all imitators. They are too legit to quit!

Steeley’s Drinkware Stainless Steel Cups

These stainless steel mugs, tumblers, and coffee thermoses come in a variety of sizes — even a Moscow Mule mug — and are reusable but can eventually be recycled. Each cup can be emblazoned with a custom logo for smart sipping.

Bamboo coasters

Rapidly renewable and easy to distribute, I am down with these branded coasters.

Refresh Glass Customizable Tumblers

Wasted wine bottles get a second life as laser-etched, ink-free goblets emblazoned with your logo.

Imprinted Biodegradable Shoelaces

Kick it cool with biodegradable shoe laces made of corn fiber.

Aardvark Paper Straws

Aardvark is the O.G. of the paper straw game, serving up 100% compostable and biodegradable straws of the straight, bendy, and even jumbo variety. Aardvark manufactures their straws in the US, and you can order a batch with your company’s logo to subliminally encourage peeps to drink your organic KoolAid.

Ecodot 100% Recycled PET Baseball Cap

These customizable baseball caps are a hit with sport and leisure enthusiasts alike. They come in a variety of colors and are totally customizable with full-color embroidery.
