1/9 The Journey to Character XYZ:
Before embarking on the Character XYZ journey, I had the privilege of working as an engineer at top AAA studios such as Epic Games, Warner Bros, Magic Leap, and 2K Games. As a game developer, I dedicated myself to building character systems including animation systems, abilities, navigation, pathfinding, and decision-making systems and observed a recurring challenge: the industry seemed to be reinventing the wheel for virtual characters with every new game or game engine or a tech stack.
In the current approach, there are too many tools available for meshes, materials, skeletons, and animations, and each one requires its own pipelines and stakeholders. This complex ecosystem creates significant friction in development, making it harder for developers to iterate quickly. Consequently, time and costs often skyrocket, putting immense pressure on teams.
This observation sparked a question: what if there was a unified solution that could streamline the character development process, making it more efficient and collaborative? I realized that many elements of character systems could be shared across multiple tech stacks, which would not only save time and resources but also foster innovation.
With a mission to create a cost-effective and time-saving Character as a Service platform that offers exceptional virtual characters to meet the demands of game developers, including avatars and NPCs, I set out to create Character XYZ. Our platform is designed to provide an affordable, quick, and intuitive solution to access, create, customize, and integrate virtual characters into virtual worlds with just a few lines of code. By reducing 90% of the cost and time involved with character development, we aim to empower developers to focus on what truly matters: building incredible virtual worlds with captivating characters that resonate with their users, fostering immersive gameplay, meaningful connections, and experiences in virtual worlds.
