Summary
In Weeks 3 and 4 of the Muses Upgrade, our focus remained on strengthening the foundations of Zeus Network and APOLLO, our first dApp. With less than three weeks until APOLLO Muses Testnet launch, we’re poised to enter an interoperable future.
Non-tech: Recapping recent highlights
Zeus Network has been diligently forging connections between the Bitcoin and Solana ecosystems, actively seeking out strategic partnerships to leverage the strengths of both blockchains. This proactive approach aims to unlock new avenues for collaboration and innovation, maximizing the potential synergies between Bitcoin and Solana for the benefit of the broader decentralized finance landscape.
𐓷 Zeus Network at Token 2049 Dubai
We participated in Solana Hacker House’s virtual demo day, joined gatherings at Nas House to meet the builders, and finished the night at the Solana Foundation pool party. On the Bitcoin side, we successfully built connections with Bitcoin partners like BOB (Build on Bitcoin), Particle Network, OrdBit, BitLayer, and Nakomoto Hub.

Zeus Network’s founder, Justin, engaged in a Twitter Space session hosted by FarmerJoe, discussing the potential convergence of Bitcoin and Solana futures. Exploring the integration of Runes and Ordinals into Solana for enhanced transaction speed and reduced fees sparked intriguing conversations about future possibilities.

Technical Update #2
The objective of the Q2 2024 Muses Upgrade is to establish a gateway from Bitcoin to Solana via APOLLO. To accomplish this, the Zeus Dev Team is concentrating on enhancing the Zeus Layer (Nodes) and APOLLO (First dApp). As we approach the launch of the Muses Upgrade, we’re gearing up by activating the testing mode for Zeus Layer nodes and implementing new features in APOLLO.
Zeus Network
Zeus Network released an introduction to Zeus Program Library (ZPL), a set of SVM programs built on Solana Virtual Machine, ZPL is a verifiable interface for developers to build on top of Zeus Network.
ZPL offers a modular and flexible architecture for developers building on Solana. It provides a secure and reliable interface, enabling seamless integration of Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) functionality into dApps and protocols. ZPL ensures robust security, interoperability, and programmability, facilitating the creation of decentralized ecosystems across different blockchains.
ZPL-Asset, empowered by Zeus Network, enables seamless transfer between blockchains, encompassing both fungible and non-fungible digital assets. These assets undergo verification by the Zeus Layer, ensuring their integrity during transfer.
Built on the SPL token extensions standard, ZPL-Assets offer customizability, allowing protocols to define fees and conditions tailored to specific requirements, enhancing flexibility in blockchain transactions.
APOLLO
With a focus on improving user experience, ensuring robust value pegging, optimizing liquidity management, and enabling seamless Bitcoin wallet integration, these work-in-progress mark significant strides toward the overarching goal of fostering a more accessible and efficient DeFi environment.

Participants for the Alpha Testing in early February should learn instantly about the new UI of APOLLO. Users will be able to see the APY for the liquidity-providing process, also added a new personal dashboard to monitor the total supply of your liquidity and the interest you’ve earned.

Two-way Peg Program

Ensuring price stability is paramount for $zBTC’s integration with the Solana ecosystem, bridging the gap between native Bitcoin assets and their representation on Solana. APOLLO achieves this through the innovative use of the Zeus Program Library (ZPL), facilitating decentralized and seamless asset value transfers.
Bitcoin | $BTC <> APOLLO <> $zBTC | Solana
$zBTC, a ZPL-Asset on Solana, maintains a 1:1 peg with Bitcoin, supported by a trustless Two-way Peg (2WP) mechanism. While 2WP is a familiar concept in technology, APOLLO’s approach stands out by employing a sidechain with Simple Payment Verification (SPV) and a decentralized group via Zeus Network’s consensus.
In comparing federated and decentralized notary systems, the latter’s absence of staking prerequisites underscores the importance of Zeus Network’s transition towards a permissionless and decentralized framework. The Zeus Layer plays a crucial role in securing APOLLO’s 2WP, overseeing transaction signing for both 2WP and DeFi Liquidity Management.
Liquidity Management Program

When a Liquidity Provider deposits their $BTC, it undergoes rigorous security and verification through Zeus Layer and Two-way peg mechanisms.
Subsequently, the Liquidity Management Program assumes responsibility for asset management and yield generation. This segment delves into strategies aimed at maximizing the utility of $zBTC within the ecosystem. As the custodian, APOLLO diligently oversees $zBTC, emphasizing operational efficiency to optimize yield generation.
Bitcoin Wallet Integration
Work-in-progress: ⛃⛃⛃⛃⛃⛁⛁⛁⛁⛁ (50%)
Integrating Bitcoin Wallet connectivity will enable the native $BTC deposit feature for APOLLO. We anticipate linking Bitcoin wallets like UniSat, Xverse, Leather, among others, during the Muses Upgrade.
Conclusion
Creating a decentralized infrastructure to connect Bitcoin with Solana presents a monumental challenge, one that Zeus Network is tackling head-on with unwavering commitment. With dedicated efforts in both technical advancements and strategic business development, we are shaping a brighter future for Web3.
