I second every statement you made there. The last two years I’ve been doing roughly 15 consulting projects for SPAs, most of them LOB apps with varying complexity and size and have experienced a similar situation. Except for one client asking for Ember and an upcoming gig with React all of them had initially the same understanding that NG has to be the choice. I had the luck to convince a few customers to give Aurelia a try after they found them struggling with an too complicated NG prototype. Sure there are also successful outcomes as well, but as you pointed out, one should try not to fall into Hype driven Development (HDD) just because NG is backed by Google ;)
