A few days ago, I had an experience of forgetting Gmail password. Fortunately, I retrieved the password from the Microsoft Outlook 2016 app. I’ve already shared this story on this platform. Through this experience, I’ve learned another skill: how to change or update email password in Microsoft Outlook 2016. Now I would like to share this practical still here.

How to change or update email password in Outlook 2016

Step 1: Launch Outlook 2016. If Outlook isn’t on your taskbar, you can type outlook in your Windows start menu search box to open Outlook 2016.

Step 2: Click File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles.

Step 3: When a Mail Setup — Outlook window opens, click on the Email Accounts button.

Step 4: When the Account Settings dialog opens, select your email account under the Email tab, then click on the Change button.

Step 5: When the Change Account window opens, delete your old password in the Password field under the Logon Information and type in your new password. Then click Next.

Step 6: Outlook 2016 will test your account settings. If your entered password matches your email password, the test will be complete successfully and your email password will be updated in Outlook 2016.

If you changed your email password through the web browser, you have to update the email password in Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook will fail to connect to your email account and keep prompting for a password.
