Feel Alive
Day One

Being alive is not a miracle, feeling alive is.
Why
In this rapidly developing era, human are so busy and maybe a little bit numb. They work hard but they don’t know what they are fighting for. They live hard but they even cannot feel alive.
When was the last time you felt yourself alive?

Research
The moment you feel alive:
— “I found the depression on the sofa when I stood up.”
— “Close my eyes, turn the face to the wind and feel it sweep along my skin.”
— “I felt stinging when being pinched.”
— “When I wake up from a nightmare.”
— “Only realization of death made me think that I am alive.”
Analysis
In the research, I find some of the answers seem to be absurd but reasonable; some of the answers are resonant; some of the answers can provoke deep thinking.
Generally, I find feeling alive has three levels:
•Being — Physical — confirming the existence
•Feeling — Biological — feeling the sensory stimulation: sight, smell, taste, touch, sound…
•Surviving — Spiritual — realizing you are living now
Concept
This is a series of interactive installation design works. There will be three exhibition areas: Being area, Feeling area and surviving area. Visitors are guided to visit them in a specific order. This work is designed for evoking the self-awareness of people. It will help people to slow down the pace for a while, have a look at themselves. They might find out how amazing a human being is and how lucky they are to be living right now. I do not expect the visitors will feel grateful to all things around after visiting my work. But I hope it will leave them a little touch.
Order

people should visit Being area and Feeling area first in order to concentrate more on themselves. Then, in the surviving area, there will be an immersive installation to show some thrilling scenes just like the nightmare. After surviving from the “nightmare”, visitors should go through the Feeling and Being areas again. It will enhance their realization of alive and help them to get some feelings different from before.
