To Anyone Who Thinks They’re Falling Behind

Jamie, perfectly written and thought out. I could not agree more about the ridiculous saturation of motivation, top 10 habits of billionaires, 7 tips to be more productive, etc…it’s relentless and often coming from people who are just as lost and trying to figure out life like everyone else. I have a brass plaque on my desk my 78 year old father gave me who does not own a smartphone and has never sent an email or been on the Internet by himself. The plaque says…”THE JOY IS IN THE JOURNEY”. He is a man who has survived 27 hours of brain surgery. Lost his entire retirement savings as a result (millions) and now lives in HUD housing. Yet despute going through hard times, hes grateful to be alive, hes happy and still lives to tell stories. He believes that good relationships are fostered when they are in person and not over a text or email. I love the saying on this plaque because that is exactly what life is… a journey. Its different for everyone and it takes time, patience, leaving through experiences but most importantly knowing ourselves first by being comfortable in our own skin. Technology is great but it will never be able to automate real personal change and growth. That motivation needs to come from within and we need to trust that it will come when it comes. Bravo for your bold, articulate and honest assessment of something so many (including me) often forget. Focus to be present in the moment, know that it’s ok when things aren’t good and happiness isn’t always possible but to never give up and take life one day at a time. Thank you.
