When we are down and in trouble, we feel that we have no passion for life. Loss of enthusiasm for life and feeling useless for yourself or others. At times like this, we need motivation to raise a sense of enthusiasm and struggle to try again to improve our lives. Motivation can be very useful when the time is right. When we are down and in trouble, we feel that we have no passion for life. With self-motivation, we are driven to do something to try to correct mistakes in our lives and achieve our dreams. But keep in mind! Excessive motivation will be a serious threat to a person because it will endanger their mental and emotional well-being.

Motivation is an internal or external drive that drives a person to act, achieve a goal, or perform a certain activity. Many factors can make motivation appear. There are two main types of motivational factors derived:

  • Intrinsic motivation is motivation that comes from within a person. An example is the desire to learn out of curiosity, personal satisfaction, or personal achievement that motivates a person.
  • Extrinsic Motivation: Motivation derived from external factors. An example is when someone works hard to get a promotion at work or trains to win a competition.

When someone is too focused on unhealthy motivation, they are likely to make irrational decisions that are likely to harm themselves and others around them. This can happen because a person tends to be influenced emotionally rather than rationally. Currently, a lot of content about motivation is scattered on social media, with narratives about the successes and achievements of others that look so perfect and tempting. This is a trigger for someone to feel pressured and constantly look for ways to pursue these unrealistic standards. Therefore, when reality occurs not in accordance with their expectations, they will feel dissatisfied with their own achievements, inferior and meaningless, and will always continue to compete and prove themselves to others. Everything is only achieved and recognized from the outside, so personal happiness and satisfaction are neglected.

Keep in mind that motivation shouldn’t just be about achievements and successes that appear in the eyes of others. Motivation should come from within, awareness of true values, dreams, and life goals. When a person is able to recognize the motivation that really motivates him positively, he will have a strong foundation for facing the challenges and trials of life that will come.

To avoid this, it is important for a person to always introspect themselves and understand what is really wanted and needed in life. Having clear goals will help a person stay focused and not be affected by unhealthy external pressure. In addition, remembering that everyone has their own uniqueness and potential can also be a driver for staying on the path of positive motivation.
