three.js journey
It’s been more than four years since I have became a web developer and focussing on developing the frontend side of web/mobile app, but the thing is, almost all of my projects are made for internal use. I can’t say that I don’t amazed by my works, since I learned a lot on the process either from mistakes or from my colleagues’ inputs, but making dashboards for all these years made me bored. I need the joy on making apps like what I felt on my first ever project(tictactoe game) made in Visual Basic 2010. Therefore I decided to make 3D web based games for my 2023 resolution. But it’s easier said than done, since I only act based on my impulsiveness.
One day, I read on my Twitter about Bruno Simon have a three.js course, which made me so excited back then, he were one of web developer who created an impressive portfolio where he utilized three.js to make 3D car game where we, as a user could control the car and there would be informations about him written in the dirt.
So after read the tweet, I decided to visit it and probably buy his course(the site is three.js-journey). Once I opened the website, I immediately amazed by the interactive 3D demo showing us what will we learn if we buy the course.
So finally I bought it on 14th February with Valentine discount️! Can’t wait to built web apps in 3D! Here’s some screenshot on the lesson’s page.
On the upper section, there would be a full-sized video player, floating menu on the left side and navigation on bottom right. The interesting thing on this site is that we could read the written version below the video player so we could copy some informations for us making notes about the lesson.
Here’s what I find after watching four chapters. The course is literally made for all web developers who already understand DOM manipulation! You don’t need plenty years of experience to understand his explanation.
My conclusion from my experience is that buying this course is really worth my money, I don’t need to find good materials just to start learning three.js(I really picky about tutorials). I will continue the course(hopefully until the end of it) and will write new blog about my experience learning from this course.
