Capitol Hill is a rather low hill, only 88 feet (29 m) above sea level, near the center of Washington, D.C.

The Capitol, which has 540 rooms, rises another 300 feet (91 m).

It is surrounded by six congressional office buildings, the Library of Congress (which is the largest library in the world, housing more than 100 million books and other items), the U.S. Supreme Court building, and the U.S Botanic Garden.

The Folger Shakespeare Library is also on Capitol Hill.

Capitol Hill is one of the oldest residential communities in Washington, and it is also one of the most densely populated.
