Let’s face it! How many times have you started a conversation about the intensity of the covid 19 pandemic in Nigeria and Africa?

How many times has someone told you Covid nor dey kill African man?

How many times?

As you read along this post, you remember those conversations. You remember them right now! Sometimes you had these conversations with yourself.

For some covid is real but it doesn’t affect us in Nigeria. For others, it’s the worst thing since AIDS and requires immediate action.

Thing is, If I don’t believe in the severity of the VIRUS, how can I believe I need to get vaccinated?!

Well,

On August 25, 2021, the Lagos state government made the Moderna vaccine available to the public to get vaccinated free of charge at designated primary health care centres; Legit from Yankee

But does that mean everyone is ready to take that mysterious first jab?

As we go further, I will tell you 3 fundamental reasons for the covid 19 vaccine hesitancy in Lagos

But first I’ll tell you why you should get vaccinated:

  1. Vaccine-preventable diseases have not gone away
  2. Vaccines will help keep you healthy
  3. Vaccines are as important to your overall health as diet and exercise
  4. Vaccination can mean the difference between life and death
  5. Vaccines are safe
  6. Vaccines will not cause the diseases they are designed to prevent
  7. Young and healthy people can get very sick, too
  8. Vaccine-preventable diseases are expensive
  9. When you get sick, your children, grandchildren, and parents may be at risk, too
  10. Your family and co-workers need you
  11. It’s been provided by the government for free
  12. By getting vaccinated, you join the global fight against the virus and show empathy towards a global cause.

At this point, I am more than happy to let you know that I took my first jab of the Moderna vaccine provided in Lagos on Wednesday, August 25 (no time to check time) and can’t wait to complete the cycle with the second (in 22–28 days.)

If you stay in Lagos, you can register for free to take your vaccine here

Don’t say I never do anything for you :)

Now I will tell you 3 funny reasons for the hesitancy in many to get vaccinated. Let’s keep going

3 Reasons Why Lagosians Don’t Trust the Moderna Vaccine

1. Those who take Covid Vaccine are in Agreement with Satan:

And turn into Blood Sucking VAMPIRES!!!

Now guys, stay with me here.

Not too long ago, there was a viral video made by famous Nigerian Pastor, Chris Okotie where he stressed that the covid vaccine would turn those who have taken it into vampires that suck other people’s blood for sustenance.

Some other Nigerian pastors have openly shown their disaproval of the covid vaccine and many of their followers, of course, follow this advice.

“What happened to you? Where is the word of God in your mouth? Do you realise if you believe in the word of God the way you believe in this vaccine, there will be power in your mouth? He made us healers. What’s wrong? What happened to you? When did we start making such recommendations to God’s people? For God’s sake, think again! — Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Needless to say, I don’t agree with this argument.

Nuff said,

This don’t hold no water. Sorry Pastor Chris :(

Get vaccinated.

See the full viral video here. Just don’t get too carried away

Now to the second reason why people are scared of the jab. sigue adelante!

2. Wierd Side Effects:

There was this one meme I saw of a guy that took the jab and few hours later, he had lost control of all bodily functions. Leemao!

Do you have any such funny memes? Please link to it in the comments below

Lagosians, get this; Life is not MNet Movies :)

The side effects are inconsequential.

The jab will not result in an uncontrollable legwork.

What I’m saying is, there have been side effects from taking the jab but the data is clear. It mostly boils down to differences in body biology.

So in reality, you have nothing nto worry about. Most medical solutions you use today like panadol have side effect that you‘re not even aware of.

Why?

Again, the side effects are inconsequential.

We’re almost done with this funny section…just one more argument and you can go back to your other musings.

3. Hunger Pandemic is Bigger than Covid Pandemic:

Bro, mindset is everything!

Again, If I don’t believe in the severity of the VIRUS, how can I believe I need to get vaccinated?!

Sis, life is all about balance. Yin and Yang.

You can always get stronger, wiser, better. You dig?

All I’ll say about this is that two wrongs don’t make a right. Whilst you strive to weather economic storms daily, you must understand that health is wealth. Besides, the vaccines have been provided free of charge. Simply register below to get vaccinated for free.

Moving on…

Now that we’re at this point, there is a question is screaming for attention.

Who should and who should not take the vaccine?

For instance, could pregos (pregnant women) take the vaccine?

You be the judge. I’ll go ahead and throw in a useful link here to sort that out and I hope it helps:
