Harsh! That said, I agree with you.
I cannot defend the feelings of someone who is polluting this pond with regurgitated clickbait for the purpose of self-promotion. Promote yourself, sure, but do so by contributing useful content or a new perspective.
On the other hand…
Sometimes the ostensibly obvious stuff is worth writing about, and is worth reading, even if understood on an intellectual level. Those of us lucky enough to participate in nit picky meta-commentary might need a reminder once in a while, because the web has a terrible signal/noise ratio. It is easy to lose focus in such an environment, to not be mindful of essential truths about work/life/love/death/meaning/reason/whatever. I need reminders, at least.
I don’t know how many people took the “Meditations” of Marcus Aurelius and remixed sections into a blog post in the genre of “x simple ways to improve your y, but I would imagine it has happened a few times. Some of those posts are probably good, and worth reading.
But…
Most of them are a waste of time. The productivity rehash thing falls into the latter category.
I enjoyed writing this comment, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else, as their time could probably be better spent making something. Thank you Mr. Opping, for giving us all another outline for a popular Medium post. Bravo.
