Why I’m Excited About VOORMI, and Why You Should Be To

It’s no secret that wool is a must-have for most backpackers, and I am not immune to the fabric obsession. It’s lightweight, and quickly dries without holding on to any excess water while I’m on the trail. I swear by wool socks, lightweight wool underlayers, wool zip ups…you get the picture. I’m basically a walking sheep when I’m in backpacking mode.

This is why I’m so excited about VOORMI, a Colorado-based company (shout out to my childhood stomping grounds), who creates precision blended, dual surface merino wool clothing items for outdoors-lovers like you and me.

VOORMI’s precision blending technology helps them incorporate synthetic fibers into their pieces exactly where they need to be in the knitting process AND they can three dimensionally place each specific section of fabric where it belongs on a finished product. That means that they can create underlayers that don’t chaffe and outerlayers that can stand up to being brushed, twisted, and snagged, and each section of fabric is specifically designed to withstand the exact useage it’s intended for. Pretty cool, right?

What’s more is that VOORMI’s dual surface construction gives them the ability to knit with wicking fiber thread to create a completely sun shielding, water resistant, lightweight piece of clothing.

As a backpacker, you only get to select so many tools to bring with you on a hike. VOORMI ensures that you’ll be making the right clothing choices no matter the weather or situation, and that’s going to give me some peace of mind when I’m packing for my next adventure.
