Thank you for writing this Aytekin Tank.
There is definitely nothing wrong with sitting. Sitting is not slowly killing us. People have been sitting at their jobs for years.
I used to have a full-time desk job and I would sit the majority of my shift. Whenever there were breaks, I would get up and walk and I was just fine. No physical consequences. Now I work at a big hospital where I work 13 hour shifts and the majority of the time I am standing or walking. My coworkers and I have to prepare for that before each shift. We wear comfy shoes with socks that prevent swelling in our lower legs. By the end of the shift, our legs will still be swollen and sore. Our feet will hurt and we are completely exhausted. Way more exhausted than we would be if we were sitting for our shift. The exercise that we get each night does have it’s benefits. We are able to breathe heavier, burn calories, and get blood flowing throughout our bodies.
There are definitely benefits to both sitting and standing. I believe we should get a good balance of each. If you have a job where you sit at a desk all day, maybe get up and walk around the office for a bit. If you have a job where you are standing the whole time, take some breaks and sit down for a couple of minutes. Whatever your job is, whether it’s a standing or sitting job, there are benefits to both.
