Eat a Frog with “Pomodoro” tomato sauce???
Yes, now you can actually eat a frog with a new kind of sauce called “Pomodoro”, nah! just kidding but what you can do is get the work done, specifically hectic kind of work, which you’re not able to do because of procrastination with this time management technique i.e. “Pomodoro”. If you don’t know, we can perform Pomodoro technique by following steps:
- Decide on the task to be done (for example, study).
- Set the Pomodoro timer (alarm) to 25 minutes.
- Work on the task until the timer rings. If a distraction pops into your head, write it down, but immediately get back on the task.
- After the timer tings, put a star (or a tick) on a piece of paper.
- Take a short 3–5 minute break.
- Repeat steps 1–4
Fortunately, nowadays I’m taking my final term examination and when I came across this technique I thought why not try Pomodoro with my exam preparation. And guess what, I was amazed with the results. I usually face many distractions whenever I try to study. Distractions like play a video game one of my biggest distractions, watch a movie or series, hangout with friends etc. But by using Pomodoro I was actually able to overcome these distractions, well at least for 2–3 hours. It helped me perform well in my exam as I was prepared for it. Writing down a distraction on paper whenever it pops up in my head and resuming my studies was the most important and most helpful part of this technique. And now I really plan on doing this all the time especially with my studies. And to improve the experience even more I’ll reward myself with whatever the distraction is, after my work is finished. By that my head will know that we’re going to get reward so finish quick.
At the end, if you think you’re a procrastinator too or you need some hectic work to be done then try “Pomodoro”, it actually helps.
