The Zonder team has been fortunate to have a summer filled with a bunch of work and still time leftover for play. Our team members have been working to make the best version of the app to date, mixing in travel, reflection, and self-care. The remote nature and work-life balance of the startup environment appeals to so many of us because of this flexibility. It makes Zonder a fun place to work and has improved our ability to assess the app’s state objectively.

We have returned from our travels with a lot feedback, advice, and inspiration. It is our hope…

React Native is the future. This weekend at Zonder we are launching our mobile app for iOS and Android and I have been blown away at the speed of development to get there. That is due in no small part to our amazing team but also to this phenomenal framework. Today we’re going to walk through a very introductory course that shows how you can get your app up and running in an afternoon.

The react-native docs are the best place to get an overview of this process but I’ll be diving into more detail to make it even…

At Zonder we use Functional Stateless Components as much as we possibly can. The ability to modularize entire screens into small manageable blocks is priceless to us as it enables us to quickly build components and pass them around our app. This is extremely useful when feedback is starting to roll in and we want to quickly iterate on parts of the app without having to completely redesign the architecture. It also enables us to reuse components, for example: this flatList that I…

I’m Noah Allen, the CTO of Zonder. In this exciting update, I want to share how our product vision has motivated our remote team to accomplish awesome work thus far. First, as always, a bit about travel!

I’ve always had an itch for travel. My first time abroad was directly after my senior year of high school when I went to Romania to be a leader at an English camp. Romania is a beautiful country, and experiencing a culture so different than that of the U.S. was a wonderful way for me to grow. I had the opportunity to tell…

For the third post in our blog, I thought it’d be a good time to talk about the history of Zonder, and how this awesome journey began. Origin stories have been all the rage for a few years, so let’s jump on the train.

The road to Zonder began in March of 2017. I had just spent an amazing week vacationing in Los Angeles with my sister, Demi — my first trip to sunny California in 25 years of living in the United States. As it turned out, a week was far too short; I’d probably only seen a third…

Hey everyone, this is Harry over at Zonder! I’m one of the founders of this travel-based venture, and I’d like to share with you what Zonder and this Explorer’s Log is all about.

For those of you who don’t know what we’re making, it’s a smartphone app that matches your location with the coordinates of different attractions to document your visits and award points and levels to you. We’ll have a number of different gaming and social features as well, including badge earning achievements, and the ability to share the places you visit with your friends.

Zonder is an experience…
