Well, I love how you guide through all the steps.
Unfortunately it didn’t work, probably I’ve made a mistake.
Here is what I get after entering http://localhost/~alexei

This site can’t be reached

localhost refused to connect.

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Then I’ve used: apachectl configtest

And got: AH00526: Syntax error on line 1 of /private/etc/apache2/users/username.conf:

<Directory> directive missing closing ‘>’

I’m confused. Yes, there is a file users/username.conf
in users. Is it supposed to be there — I’m sure I didn’t create it. Do I delete it?

I’m upset — I’ve configured Apache on Mac since it became included with the OS. And I also used coolestguidesontheplanet.com that has the same steps and was getting other amazing responses. I have Sites from El Capitan with all my test domains — worked great there.
I’ve opened username.conf in BBEdit and there is closing ‘>’ missing, I opened it with nano — the file is empty!! It looks like I’ve created another username.conf somewhere.
May be it’s the best to start all over again, but now I have so many “baks”
- I don’t know where to start.

Am I beyond help?
