As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present immense global challenges, issues of domestic and intimate partner violence have received heightened attention. Multiple reports illustrate a grim picture of the reality that survivors are enduring. In some places, surges in calls to hotlines and traffic on domestic violence assistance websites point to a higher volume of need. Other areas have seen fewer calls, indicating growing difficulty in seeking out safety services and reporting incidents of violence. These trends are no surprise, unfortunately, given the period of physical social isolation and economic stress our society is experiencing with little relief in sight.
