Going Back Up
Life is a roller coaster, and hers was always going up. The little girl was always happy and smiling. Wanting to see and do everything. Young. Innocent.
Then she grew up. Life hit. Her ride went crashing down. Spiraling down. Her grandfather died.
Yet, she found hope. Made great friends. She thought that middle school would be brilliant.
Eighth grade. Fears of losing her friends through different schools. Fears of failing every class. She didn’t want to work. Or leave her house. Her bed.
Now, there’s a different ride. It’s a long one.
I’m hoping this one only goes up.

For years, a certain YouTube musician has been inspiring me to be creative and just simply be me. Her name is Dodie Clark and she has been writing and performing songs since she was 14. She is now in her 20’s and is improving every day. This particular song entitled “Human” was written by her and performed with her friend Jon Cozart, another YouTube songwriter. This song just always seems to be able to explain me in a short little catchy song. She sings about how she hopes to find that person that she can tell everything to and they can tell her everything. But, she is just human and cannot be expected to be perfect all the time.

Although J.K. Rowling’s start up story is a bit controversial, I do believe it’s true. Her inspiring tale of starting up by writing Harry Potter on coffee shop napkins makes just about anyone think they can do anything. I also have a soft spot for Harry Potter, and just had to include her in my people I look up to.

Going along with the Harry Potter theme, Emma Watson is another inspiration. She has just done so much within her short time on earth. She has been an actress, student, and an advocate for gender equality. She believes in equal rights for women and is not afraid to stand up her make her point. She is so motivational and inspires me to make a stand against what is not right.

Lastly, I have Alan Turing. He might not be a common person to admire, but I do. What he has done for the world has changed so many lives. He created the first “computer” in WWII and helped the Allies finally win through breaking the Nazi codes. He was also not afraid to speak up over what he thought was wrong by still being gay in a time where it was not allowed. He made it through conversion therapy but sadly committed suicide not much later. This just makes me want to do something about the cruel ways people are punished for being themselves.
Quote That I Live By
