The quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. And a kind act is kindness. In Islam, kindness is a very important part of a Muslim’s expression of faith. One of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W) was, “The believers, in their love, mercy, and kindness to one another are like a body: if any of it is ill, the whole body shares its sleeplessness and fever.” ( Wikipedia)

We can change the world together by just doing one random act of kindness at a time. My parents taught me compassion, kindness and to help people in need. Kindness is never wasted. It bless those who receives it and also bless you, the giver.

Kindness is the best way to heal yourself as well. You don’t teach morals, empathy and kindness at schools. You teach that at home, children learn by example. As a Muslim it is our responsibility to be kind to the people. Allah Almighty said:

Verily, Allah is kind and merciful to the people. ( Surah Al-Baqarah 2:143)

Allah Almighty is kind and the Prophet ( S.A.W) imitated Allah’s example in its perfection by showing kindness to his servants and all creatures without any regard for their beliefs, colour or nationality.

Abu Sulaiman reported:

The Prophet was kind hearted and merciful. (Sahih Bukhari 5662)

Hazrat Muhammad( S.A.W) also said to His wife,

O Aisha, Allah is kind and He loves kindness in all matters. ( Sahih Bukhari 6528)

Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “ Every act of kindness is a Sadaqa ( charity)” ( Bukhari, Muslim).

A fantastic activity that helps us appreciate kindness and be more kind is assigned to us. I am mentioning few acts of kindness performed by myself,

1) I combed my mother’s hair and did her braid.

2) I asked someone to go first in line.

3) Helped and encouraged a fellow for the project work.

4) Give water to many thirsty people.

5) Made food and served it to the guests.

Kindness improves our quality of life at workplace as well in our personal life. Kindness is not an act, it is an attitude. Doing good for others feels good. Being kind often requires courage and strength. Showing kindness to others in return gives us feeling of satisfaction. So, kindness plays an important role in becoming a Most valuable team player.
