Few things make me angry at my age—I’ve seen too much, and it’s not worth the strain on my arteries. Hearing that the police chief had tendered/been ordered to submit her resignation after Damond’s death, while the cop who shot Philando Castile sauntered off free as a bird did the trick. The absolute injustice of it made my elderly blood boil, and it continues to simmer.

Needless to say, I suppose, that even among my most progressive friends, I was the first person I saw to call attention to that fact. Of course, I didn’t get the kind of outraged response you did, because they don’t get any whiter than I am. Well, that said, I suppose the venue probably helped, since few of that crowd are going to spout off and contradict me.

Keep writing. It needs to be said.
