The 4-Hour dream and struggle of chasing it

We all have seen this before — People having a hard time with their dreams, feeling down, and thinking like there’s no end in sight — turns to their personal blogs or journals to write how they feel.

Yep. I’m one of them.

This is my first time to write something just to vent out my frustration. I am 22 years old(I don’t look like one), Entrepreneurship graduate, had a corporate job at 20 years old, always stuck at traffic, and feeling like stuck in a rut.

I’ve read a lot of self help books — one of which is my favorite called “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss. The point of this book is not for you to work 4 Hours a week as the title suggests. Rather, it is on how you can maximize your work output with the least amount of time to do the things that you love.

That book opened my mind to possibilities. That became my dream.

Fast forward to today, I’m slowly making changes to chase that dream. A few days ago quit my corporate job to grab the opportunity of working “full time” on my side hustle before which is Freelancing. My work day from the typical 40 hour work week became 30 and the hassle of commuting to and from work is gone.

Some will think that it’s fun. Well, it’s quite an adjustment. Social life got hit a bit hard since my office mates are the lifeblood of my social life. They’re the main reason why I was hesitant to leave my day job. Another thing is having self doubts — “Can I really pull this off?”, “Am I too young for this shit?” . My brain always give a bunch of reason why can’t I do such things.

Lastly, distractions. Having a lot of free time can sometimes be a bad thing if not used correctly. Most of the time I feel lonely, bored, and just like when I have my day job — feel a bit stuck in a rut.

So, where do we go from here? I guess the point of this writing this down is to know If you’ve been here before and to learn how you’ve overcome this. How did you fought the struggle to continue chasing your dream when things are not falling in the right place?

Until then, let’s continue chasing the dream — that 4-Hour dream.
