I think your first error is talking about past automation. We have, in the past have had mechanisation, which is quite different. Mechanisation still requires human input. When the horse bus was replaced by the motor bus it increased efficiency but still needed a driver. With automation there is little or no human supervision. Self drive cars won’t require any supervision.
