I think you need to look carefully at how you are empowering these people, they are using your processes etc. but their power is largely symbolic, there’s no real ‘authority’ here, so organise around them, have meetings without them, use your online system, if they complain, let them handle their complaints with some overcomplicated complaints procedure of their own devising, in short, adapt, evolve, neutralise. In politics we have authentic enemies, it’s no time to be nice and polite
