2015 in (re) v i e w

“distortions, displacements, rotations … something else was there, just about to appear, something he understood had always been there, but that he had not been receptive to…” — Thomas Pynchon, Against the Day.

During 2015 I’ve continued the practice of making at least one photograph per day (developed, edited and uploaded on a consistently erratic basis) initially as an attempt to focus attention, develop a daily creative practice and further explore the photographic medium, process and context. This was the fifth consecutive year I’ve committed to daily photographs, but after 1826 consecutive days, I’m not sure there is much I can add to last year’s overview. The five year cycle deserves a more prolonged reflection, but for now a short summary and some selected images…

As in the previous years light (112), blur (106), shadow (50), leaves (45) and texture (44) feature consistently and even more prominently. There were as many photos of tangles (19) as reflections (19). There were 234 photos with tags used only once including; a spherical arrangement of radiant points, basidiomycota, crypto, geology, wabi sabi and worm code. Based on the approximate geotagging I’ve travelled less during 2015, spending most of the year in Belgium (290) with the remaining photos being made in UK (30), Croatia (10), Netherlands (9), Portugal (6), Switzerland (6), Australia (6), Singapore (5), Italy (1) and France (1), more locally in Brüsel (aka Brussel, Bruxelles, Bruxxel, etc) (285), London (19), Istria (Istra) (10), Amsterdam (8), Kernow (Cornwall) (8), Parenzana (6), Singapore (5), Lisbon (Lisboa) (4), Glenelg (3), Sintra (2), Falmouth (2), Pontresina (2), Adelaide (2), Pula (Pola) (1), Morteratsch (1), McLaren Vale (1), Graubünden (1), Huhnensee (1) and Muottas Muragl (1).
