A way to generate regular content that is community-driven

One recurring theme in the community is the desire to see more educational content that can be shared across social media. This is not to replace formal marketing done by the Nervos team, rather as an additional measure so that we as a community can play a part in our own growth.

I have always thought that a vibrant community needs to be able to produce its own educational content: infographics, memes, videos, gifs etc. It should be from the community, for the community.

We already do this to some extent. However, one of the challenges with any cryptocurrency project — and especially with CKB — is that there’s a steep learning curve for the average layperson to appreciate its design.

Another challenge is that people cannot appreciate what they simply don’t know about. By creating content and incentivizing its spread, we can draw more people into our community.

I have tried to address this by commissioning infographics from a graphic designer. These infographics break down aspects of Nervos architecture into a more easy to understand way. If you follow me on Twitter you will know that the engagement from them has been reasonably good, in particular the most recent graphic on interoperability.

41K+ views on Twitter in 1 week and 3.7K engagements (incentivized with CKB giveaway)

My aims are as follows:

1. Educate people about the technicals in an easy to understand way

2. Increase the buzz around Nervos across social media to help grow the community.

3. To allow the community to have some sense of ownership over what content they feel needs to be put out there

So far I have self-funded such content by commissioning work from freelance graphic designers on a well-known platform. But I want us to up the ante and start creating more ambitious content. Explainer videos and more infographics for starters. This could expand to gifs, memes, merch and so on. Until we have in-community graphic designers who are happy to contribute pro-bono, there will always be a cost to create content.

To give you an idea of costs involved:

Infographic: $100 — $150

Explainer videos (~3–5 mins): $2–4,000

Our next project in development is a tokenomics explainer video which will address common questions about CKB supply and issuance.

I am also starting work on another infographic in the meantime as the above video will probably take a while before it’s ready for release.

Donating and transparency

There have been people reaching out to me already saying that they would be happy to chip in to help facilitate new content coming out, and I understand Nervos Foundation may be willing to provide part-funding.

So far I haven’t found a suitable crowdfunding website to host this campaign so any donations can be sent to the DAS account: nervos2025.bit (or go to https://nervos2025.bit.cc ). This is connected to a dedicated wallet that myself and the Nervos community lead will have the keys to.

If you send any donations please DM me on Telegram (Neon) to confirm so I can keep track of donors. The above address will accept CKB, ETH, USDC. For transparency, I will publish monthly accounts of donations received and what campaigns they have been directed towards. Donors will also receive special mention in future videos.

Moving forward I do want to have a neutral platform on which crowdfunding can occur with milestones etc. If I do find a suitable platform for crowdfunding I’ll update this blog post.

With community support we can develop engaging educational content and help spread awareness about Nervos Network.
