I know what you mean… 
I took my birth date private on Facebook like a year ago, before that I deactived my account the night before the big day and activated the next afternoon.

I’m basicaly not active on Facebook at all, I use it if I have to contact someone that is only reachable on there or to share an Instagram post.

I might have different reasons than you but I totaly agree with you.
