A 30-Day Writing Challenge — Day 21
Play Your Way to Success
Do you like play?
I don’t.
I believe that game is such a time-waster. I can better make use of my time by doing something productive like reading, tidy up, exercise, etc.
As a result, I lost touch of play ever since I was quite young. Being a highly conscientious person, I am into productivity routine which relies heavily on my get-stuff-done mentality. I always have a long list of to-do’s, and as I ticked off items, I feel satisfied. I am obsessed with being productive.
Or at least, that’s what I thought I felt.
You see, when life is too habitual, you feel a sense of rigidness. Everything is predictable. More importantly, you see life in a serious way and therefore forgot to have fun.
Like what I said earlier, I love being productive. I feel in control whenever I get stuff done. The more tasks I knocked down, the more secure I feel. Being addicted to something often cause you to neglect something.
For me, I lost touch with the relationship aspect of life. We need to get stuff done; however, we are human. We make mistakes. Having a baby forces me to view my way of life. Am I satisfied? What can I see the outcome in 1 week?
To close, I’d like to leave you with the following quote:
‘Reaping the rewards of play takes conditioning and practice. But it is through play that we not only prepare for change but embody it.’
