Castro Street, Harvey’s & An Underwear Bar

I’m attracted to San Francisco for a couple reasons: the forward-thinking mindset, the tech flowing through it’s veins, and the parties that go on there.

This was my first time in Frisco, and Kimmi and I had some good tour guides; Kimmi’s co-worker, Jack, and his partner, Joe. Jack and Joe have a timeshare a few blocks north of Market Street on Castro. Party central.

All my plans leading up to this point were focused around meeting Jack and Joe in Frisco. It’s the reason I left St. Pete on the date I did and the reason Kimmi flew into Denver when she did.

Our time in San Francisco was finally here.

We arrived in the city ahead of schedule. Jack and Joe weren’t at the condo yet, so to waste time, we took a stroll past the house that Full House used for it’s facade shots. Needless-to-say, the house has changed since being what Uncle Jessie came home to. We passed it once or twice trying to find it, but we finally did.

Efficiently wasting enough time, we met Jack and Joe at their condo.

We were off to the store so Jack and Joe could pick up a few things for the week they’d be staying in Frisco. We grabbed beer, liquor, coffee; the essentials.

For dinner, we had Harvey’s, a restaurant decorated around Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person to be elected for public office in California. Besides the great atmosphere and history, the food was delicious.

Night time came, and we were ready to hit the town. The Castro district was quite the opposite of most towns you will go into. As most cities have a lone gay bar on the outskirts of town, Castro district probably doesn’t even have a single “straight bar” in the whole area. It was amazing to see the pride among the community and their acceptance of nearly anybody from another walk of life.
